Trip To Ladakh: A 30th Anniversary Gift Away From The Hustle Bustle, Full Of Peace & Togetherness

Mrs. Anuradha Sharma narrates her venture into the rugged and picturesque terrains of Ladakh with her husband, a 30th-anniversary gift by him that was booked via Travel Triangle. An attempt to ditch the usual hectic life and celebrate their long relationship amidst the beauty & peace of Ladakh, their holiday turned out to be better than expected. Their 5nights/6days Ladakh package cost them INR 37000 and covered their hotels, breakfast, sightseeing, and private cab transfers.

Owing to the hectic schedule and the hustle-bustle of our city lives, my husband and I wished for a summer retreat to enjoy the mountains and a cooler climate. After going on three trips with our kids in the last one year, my husband planned a vacation for just the two of us to celebrate our togetherness on our 30th anniversary. We got to know about Ladakh as a vacation hotspot on and we were thoroughly impressed by the landscape of Ladakh and the tour packages on offer.

Beautiful Ladakh

So after raising a trip request on the website, we were called upon by their representative who understood our requirements. He connected us to various travel agents on their website for best quote, package and customization. Finally, we zeroed in on a package offered to us by the agency ‘Amazing India Routes’.

Day 1: Arrival in Leh

Before our departure to Ladakh, it was recommended to us that people traveling via flight should give one day in their Hotel room to adjust to the drastic change in altitude from New Delhi (216m) to Leh City, which stands at a massive 3500m above sea level. Taking such a precaution was necessary for us to enjoy the vacation and avoid a heavy migraine and or a headache due to lack of oxygen.

Beautiful view of the snow clad mountains in Leh

As we landed at the scenic Leh Airport, after an hour-long flight from New Delhi, the uniqueness of the location was already beginning to show. We were greeted at the Airport by the travel agency representative who then transferred us to the hotel where we decided to spend a day inside to adjust to the weather and altitude.

Time for some peace amidst the beautiful mountains of Ladakh

In the evening, we finally decided to step out to explore the Local Bazaar for some shopping. To our surprise, we found out that supplies in Ladakh at the time we traveled were very low. Essential commodities like vegetables, chicken, and groceries were in acute shortage due to the seasonal supply (May to October).

Day 2: Exploring In and Around Leh

Despite having taken a day to acclimatize, my husband and I woke up with a headache as our bodies were still not used to the altitude yet. However, since we did not want to miss out on the fun, we cautiously decided to continue with our itinerary after taking necessary medicines.

One of the places to see in Ladakh

To start off things, we were taken to the mysterious Magnetic Hill. This was a really unique experience for us because we saw how our car automatically started moving upwards on its own when we reached there. It was almost as if someone was pulling the car uphill and quite frankly we were more fascinated than surprised.

Close to the Magnetic Hill, we also visited the Gurudwara Patthar Sahib and after taking blessings continued our journey.

Anuradha at a famous monastery in Ladakh

Next, we were driven 70 kilometres from Leh to visit the magnificent Alchi Monastery which dates at least a thousand years back to this day. Although it is merely a tourist destination and not an active Buddhist centre, Alchi Gompa provides a rare insight into the development and progression of Buddhism over a millennia.

We ended the tour with a short visit to the Ladakh Hall of Fame, a tribute to the Indian Army.

Day 3: The Charming Nubra Valley

Probably the most adventurous day of our trip!

Drive to Nubra Valley in Ladakh

After having a light breakfast, we were ready to cross the highest motorable road in the world on our way to Nubra Valley.

Khardung-La Pass, situated 5602 metres above sea level, holds the record for the highest motorable road in the world. Oxygen levels here are at a bare minimum and the place is completely controlled and managed by the army. Tourists are not allowed to stay here for more than 30 minutes as the lack of adequate oxygen can adversely affect them.

The beautiful view of the Nubra Valley

Beautiful cottages in Nubra Valley

Moving on from the Sand Dunes, we reached the beautiful and secluded Hundar Village. The village gave us a feel of witnessing a Bedouin/Gypsy camp setup in the middle of the valley – amidst trees and vegetation. Our overnight stay was in Hundar where had an authentic overnight stay at the village campsite.

Day 4: Return to Leh City via Khardung La

After our adventurous and enjoyable stay in Hundar, we had breakfast and proceeded back towards Leh City passing back via Khardung-La. Our itinerary was free for the day so we decided to take it easy and rested for a while.

Khardungla Pass in Leh

After having dinner in a restaurant, we retired for the night.

Day 5: Visiting the Pangong Tso Lake

Some would say we saved the best for the last. Pangong Lake has always been the prime attraction of Ladakh. It is in a secluded location and is surrounded by picturesque arid mountains which give it a feeling of an unexplored place.
The serene Pangong Lake in Leh

And so when after a 4-hour long drive from Leh City when we reached a milestone 2 kilometres before the lake which read “First view of the World Famous Pangong Tso Lake” – we really got excited. It gave us a sense of achievement and pride and we were really happy to have fulfilled our desire.

Sea merging in Leh

The lake was simply magnificent and true to its fame offered us breathtaking views of different shades of blue. It was almost as if we were in a winter wonderland that is part of a fairytale. Obviously, one part of our reason coming here like most of the tourists was, the shooting of The 3 Idiots Movie and we were really thankful to the director for popularising this spot.

Beautiful view of the mountains in Leh

After spending a refreshing yet an extremely windy day at Pangong Tso, we left for our Hotel with lots of pictures and memories of this place that will remain with us forever. The serenity and peace of mind that we experienced there cannot be matched by any other experience in the entire world.

Anuradha at the 3 idiots cafe in Leh

We reached our hotel in the evening and it soon dawned on us that this beautiful vacation was soon to be over.

Day 6: Heading home

We woke up early morning to rush to the airport and catch our flight back to New Delhi. It took us a moment to realise and process the fact how adventurous we had been over the past few days.

Anuradha and her husband enjoying s Yak ride in Leh

Ladakh is truly a special place and in my terms has an unknown force that can calm anyone. It is tranquil, serene, picturesque and much more than what we see in the movies. For anyone who wants peace of mind and some time to themselves and loved ones – Ladakh is the place to be!

A beautiful trip to Ladakh

High Points

  • Visiting the Pangong Tso Lake was a privilege.
  • Stay in Hundar village was very authentic and worth the travel

Low Points

  • Lack of Oxygen is often a problem.
  • People should take ready made food if traveling in April or May.

1. If you are clueless, let travel triangle plan your trip as they are the best.
2. Don’t over analyse or think about the safety in thailand, the country is beautiful and safe without a doubt.
3. Carry less luggage. (Only essentials)
4. Definitely try Thai curries, they taste amazing.

1. Do not carry more bags with you.
2. If you like to live amidst nature then don’t choose phuket. ( Go for Krabi).

The best time to visit Phuket is between November and April when weather conditions are ideal for beach activities, such as swimming and boating. The six months between May and October is monsoon season, and although accommodation prices are much lower this time of year, the water conditions can be dangerous.

My experience with TravelTriangle was very good and it matched with our expectations. We got the best agent from traveltriangle, he was very good at giving us a beat trip as per our choice. ( I will suggest to choose this agent on traveltriangle.
I am looking forward to more trips with them.

Beauty, Love, And Happiness: Our Honeymoon Trip To Bali Was A Heavenly Experience

Some of the most special moments shared between couples are on their honeymoon. What better way to celebrate love than to explore a new place with your soul mate? Vineet had the same thoughts when he and his wife were planning their honeymoon trip to Bali. Best Places To Visit On A Friends & Family Trip To Kerala

If I could sum up how I feel about traveling in three words, I would say ‘I love it’! For me, traveling doesn’t mean hopping from one place to another, it is rather a medium to experience the world, meet new people, and explore different culture and lifestyles. And this is exactly what I experienced with my wife Chitra on our recent trip to Kerala.

Being one of the senior people in my company, I keep traveling for business trips. But this time it was different as we decided to explore South India, and we were travelling along with three more couples. All we wanted was a carefree and relaxing holiday, and that’s exactly what we experienced. A little bit of browsing did help us in a great way!

I came across Travel Triangle on the internet and then contacted them for booking our trip to Kerala. Right from the planning of our holiday to the execution during the trip, everything was perfect! They helped me at every stage and got me in touch with Travelius, a local agent in Kerala. This made the whole booking process pretty easy and smooth.

Places to stay kerala

On our first day, we had a long 3 hours and 30 minutes scenic drive from the Cochin airport to Munnar. After reaching our resort, The Leaf Munnar, we were elated. It was absolutely perfect! The arrangements were great and we could sense comfort right from the moment we stepped in. We relaxed for a while and then explored the beautiful property.

After exploring the beauty of Munnar, we headed to Thekkady on the fourth day of our trip. We stayed here only for a night at Hotel Spice Grove. A whole day here was enough for us to visit the medicinal garden, and coffee and cardamom plantations . Our visit here was quite insightful as we were nicely informed about the usefulness of these plants. Also, one of the most cherished memories of our trip was lived here as it was Valentine’s Day. My wife Chitra and I took an elephant ride and the keeper treated us like we were newlyweds. We were all red with happiness. But what made our day even better was the Kathakali dance show. The experience was mesmerizing!

Places To stay Kerala

The next morning, we headed to Kumarakom where we stayed at the Waterscapes KTDC Backwater Resort. Honestly, we travel every year, both abroad and within India, but I’ve never witnessed such a unique accommodation anywhere. The location of the resort was not only excellent, but breathtaking as the houses were built upon the canals. Staying here for just a day was too less, because this is undoubtedly one of the most unique places to stay in Kerala.

Day 6: A Memorable Stay in the Houseboat

Alleppey Sunset View

On the 6th day of our trip, we drove to Alleppey. This was the first time that we were going to stay in a moving houseboat and so the excitement was at its peak. The moment we reached there, we were more than satisfied. The houseboat seemed like a home away from home. It had four rooms, ACs, a TV, music system, and was beautifully decorated. It felt like it was made just for our group. If you’re also looking for great places to stay in Kerala, look no more. At stay here is worth experiencing!
We spent the day witnessing the beauty of the backwaters, listening to the chirping birds, and indulging in local food. There couldn’t have been a better way to get closer to the nature than this!

To top it all, we were surprised with a birthday cake for our daughter’s birthday. We wanted to celebrate it amongst ourselves on the boat, but had no idea that Sudeesh, our local agent from Travelius will make it so special. It was a wow moment for us!

Day 7 and 8: Exploring Cochin Like The Locals

Things to do cochin

While the weather was a bit warm in Cochin, we had enough energy mustered up to explore the city. We spent time at the beach, went for fishing and boating, explored the palaces, and tried out some local cuisines. It was a day well spent! At the night, we came back to our hotel, the Cochin Palace and called it a day. The next day, we were ready with our bags to leave for the airport.

Things to do cochin

All in all, it was an impeccable experience. All the resorts or hotels that we stayed at had amazing hospitality and were well-maintained. And believe me, there were no low points in our trip. If I had to recall the most amazing moment, it would be the time we spent at The Munnar Resort and the special treatment we received. They had prepared exclusive fasting meals for some of us, and it was heart touching.

  • Kerala is a beautiful place waiting for you to explore. Make sure you pay a visit with your family and stay at the most amazing resorts, to stay close to nature.
  • Waterscapes KTDC Backwater Resort is a beautiful place to stay in Kumarakom. Do plan your stay here for more than a day.

It was a flawless holiday experience and absolute value for money. Everything from the beginning till the end was very smooth, just what we had hoped for. I think because of the excellent experience that we have had with Travel Triangle, I would love to suggest it to future travelers, be it for booking a trip to Kerala or anywhere else!

Day 1: Anse Georgette Beach
Day 2: Cycling and glass-bottom rafting in La Digue
Day 3: Visit to Fond Ferdinand National Park
Day 4: Mahe city tour
Day 5: Sightseeing in Mahe
Day 6: Departure

Here are all our special memories from the trip. See what all we did and plan your getaway accordingly.

Day 1: Leisure Time At Anse Georgette Beach

Airport View

Anse Georgette Beach

On day 1, we arrived at the Mahe International Airport and were met by a representative of the team who took us to the inter island Quay, and checked into our hotel called Oasis hotel restaurant & Spa after a 45 minute ferry ride to reach Praslin. Oasis was wonderful and our favourite part was the vegetarian indian food. It was important for us because we both are vegetarians. The hotel was just 30 seconds away from the beach. They had a wonderful swimming pool. All in All a great experience.

After the check-in at the hotel we had the rest of the day to ourselves so we chose to explore the island on our own. We went to the beaches in Praslin and the highlight of the trip had to be the Anse Georgette beach. The Anse Georgette beach is regarded as one of the most stunning beaches in Seychelles with powder soft white sand and crystal clear blue waters.

Day 2: La Digue Cycling and Glass Bottom Rafting

Cycling at Island

Glass Bottom Rafting

Awesome Experience

The second day we were taken off to La Digue island after a 15 minute jetty ride. The island offers spectacular beaches, an abundance of Creole architecture, a Nature Reserve and the famous L’Union estate. We enjoyed the island at our own pace exploring the island on cycles. There is this group of people called Crystal waters who took us on glass bottom rafting and some island adventures, it truly was one hell of an experience. They usually charge 80 euros per person and it’s totally worth it.

Day 3: Fond Ferdinand National Park

Fond Ferdinand National Park

Enjoy the cool sea breeze

breathtaking view

The Fond Ferdinand National Park is one of the best offbeat places in Seychelles. We wandered around the park, which is not known to a lot of people that makes it a hidden gem. Enjoy the cool sea breeze, a breathtaking panoramic view of the island of Praslin and the neighbouring islands, it is the best alternative to Vallee De Mai and includes a tour of the local flora and fauna.

Day 4 & 5: Mahe City Tour

Couple spending romantic time

sunset view

stunning view of the beach

Coral Strand resort

On the fourth day after a delicious meal of breakfast at the hotel, we took a ferry to leave for Mahe and checked-in to our resort called Coral Strand. At Coral Strand we had a honeymoon suite with a stunning view of the beach that looked straight out of a film set. We enjoyed an entire city’s tour for two whole days and it was an exhilarating experience. Mahe, the main island, is home to the international airport and Victoria, the world’s tiniest capital and is the cultural and economic hub of the nation. We indulged in water sport activities on the second day in Mahe like snorkeling, kayaking and scuba.

Day 6: Bidding Adieu To The Island

stunning view

tea for relaxation at airport

On the final day we checked out of the hotel and bid adieu to the island followed by departure to the airport.

The weather was surprisingly pleasant. We did not expect Rainy season in May. The best months to visit Seychelles are April, May, October and November. These Months represent the transition times between the hot and humid northwest trade winds (from November through March) and the cooler southeast trade winds that define April through October.

Take a direct flight from Mumbai to SEZ Airport in Seychelles near Victoria. Air Seychelles is the most popular airline to fly to Seychelles.

You must pack the following items (or similar) for your trip to Seychelles:

  • Raincoat and umbrella
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • Flip flops or sandals
  • Sturdy trekking / sports shoes
  • Sarongs
  • A light jacket (or two)
  • A small backpack
  • Bathing suit and quick dry towel
  • Flashlight
  • Photo ID
  • Scarves
  • The culture is similar to europe/america. Indian travelers need to be aware that the water is not free. Carry your water bottle with you and fill it up wherever you get free drinking water.
  • Carry Seychelles rupees as you wont lose out of currency exchange as compared to dollars and euros.
  • Do not expect a 24 hour service unless you are staying in a 5 star property. Hotel staff here just leave by 9pm and you don’t get any service after that.
  • If you have US Dollars, they do not accept notes which are 2012 and older. So only 2013 onwards currency notes are accepted.

  • Interact with the locals
  • Try the authentic and delicious local food of Seychelles

  • Exchange currency at an unauthorized center
  • Bargain in local markets for handicrafts

We had a fabulous trip experience, all thanks to TravelTriangle. We look forward to booking another trip with them in the future.

A trip to Seychelles sure seems like a dream come true, it surely did for Sandesh and his wife. If you’re also planning a trip to the Seychelles, make sure to follow this first time guide to Seychelles and enjoy a holiday in Seychelles that will feel like living life in heaven!
